Last May 2019 our partner Mr. Hugo Moran R. has been designated secretary of Crime Stoppers Panama known as CSI Panama, a non-governmental organization, branch of Crime Stoppers Caribbean, Bermuda and Latin America (CSI). Mr. Moran R. has been actively involved for many years in policy initiatives addressed to combat the illicit trade in Panama and the region.
CSI has developed a portal to submit anonymous denunciation and CSI deals directly with law enforcement, customs and other Panamanian governmental entities. Crime Stoppers Caribbean, Bermuda and Latin America (CSI) has presented their 2018 Statistics of the Region. The report showed the impact of illicit trade in the region with excellent results of the implemented program. During the 2018 period, 9,600 tips were received in CSI portal, and since the launch of the program they have received over 80,000 tips, which turned out in the arrest of more than 270 suspects, over 410 cases cleared and 3 million dollars of seized property. Furthermore, during the past year USD350,000 worth of narcotics were seized and USD 64,000 rewards were paid.
