In February 2018, the Global Head of Anti-Counterfeiting matters for Channel SARL toured Panama City. During their visit, we visited the regional headquarters of the United Nations on Drugs and Crime where the Container Control Programme (CCP) is coordinated and supervised. Mr. Jorge Vargas extensively explained the results of the Container Control Programme in Panama and in the Latin America region. Afterwards, we visited the Colon Free Zone, where we were able to confirm the reality of the free zone as a distribution point for counterfeit products. Weeks later, the Superior Prosecutor’s Office Specialized in Crimes against Intellectual Property Rights conducted 3 successful operations within the Colon Free Zone, where a significant amount of CHANEL clothing, shoes, handbags and perfumes were confiscated.
