UNODC – WCO Container Control Program held the webinar “ILLICIT TRADE IN COVID-19 TIMES”.  The webinar was held fromJune 16-18, 2020, addressed to customs and ports officials, as well as law enforcement from Panama, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Dominican Republic.  During three days, speakers of several industries discussed the impact of COVID-19 and illicit trade trends.  Private sector was represented by the following industries: safety products, luxury, personal care and essential goods, shoes, agrochemical and pharmaceutical.  Customs authorities also discussed about successful cases related with illicit trade of tobacco in the region during this sanitary crisis. 

Our partners Mr. Hugo Moran R. spoke about Panama and International Treaties related to Customs Measure Regulations, and best practice in the region.  Mrs. Virginia Cervieri from Cervieri Monsuarez also spoke about her experience in customs measures in Uruguay, Paraguay and Bolivia.

Moran IP and Cervieri Monsuarez supported The UNODC and The World Customs Organization representatives in the organization of the webinar.  This is part of the commitment and cooperation of the private sector to fight together with the public sector against illicit trade.
