On October 28, 2019 Mr. Roland Mirones Martinez, Minister of Public Security and Mr. Alejandro Campos, President of Crime Stopper Panama signed a key Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to combat illicit trade and organized crime. The intention of MoU is to provide access to Panamanians to an online platform to submit anonymous denunciations of several crimes such as money laundering, tax evasion, illicit trade among others.
Crime Stoppers International (CSI) is an non-government organization founded in 1969, with operation in 26 countries. Crime Stoppers Panama is the regional branch of CSI focused in the combat of illicit trade, money laundering and tax evasion.
The event was attended by the Treasurer of Crime Stoppers, Mrs. Cibeles de Freitas, Secretary of Crime Stoppers Mr. Hugo Moran R., Partner of Moran IP, and Mr. Severino Mejia, Security adviser of Panama President Laurentino Cortizo, who stated that “this technological solution will provide a trusted place for Panamanians to submit anonymous denunciations”.
